SUMMARY

1

22

Jimmie Miranda

2B

19

JC

MILB

$2,040K

Speedy quality hitter, he will have a tendency to strikeout a lot more than a traditional #2 batter but he has all around superior skills to make up for his frequent whiffs.

2

68

T.J. Matthews

P

19

JC

MILB

$550K

Huge reach in the 2nd round. Matthews will probably never make it out of AAA unless he's filling in. Middle of road projections along with only 1 plus pitch will doom anyone.

3

100

Milton Mailman

3B

21

COL

MILB

$425K

Better suited for RF, Mailman can deliver in the minors, but might be over matched in the pros. He does feature good speed and a solid yet unspectacular bat.

4

132

Nolan Foster

P

22

COL

MILB

$350K

Career Minor Leaguer

5

164

Junior Wang

SS

21

COL

---

---

Not scouted, but does want 7M probably not going to sign him.

Summary: Outlaws badly need a catcher to develop and passed up on a few quality ones with their picks. Miranda was a reach in the 1st round for a position that the team was already set in. This draft did not bode well for the Outlaws.

SUMMARY

1

13

Footsie Long

SS

18

HS

---

---

Superior bat and above average glove. Footsie might find a better home at 3B, but he is capable at SS. He has plus speeds, but will have a tendency to overrun the bag and get caught out of position. His work ethic might be an issue without strong coaching. A great find at 13 though.

1

45

Rogers Payton

P

18

HS

---

---

Undecided, also being scouted to play pro hockey. Borderline ML SP prospect. Fireballer who will induce the groundball almost every time when the ball gets into play. Rogers has 3 plus pitches, but mediocre control. At times he will struggle against Left handed batters, but biggest issue is his low durability... He may never be anything more than a reliever.

2

59

Frank Davis

3B

22

COL

MILB

$550K

Solid, but unspectacular blue collar guy. He will strikeout a lot more than average and might not get a change in the majors because of this flaw in his game.

3

91

Davey Gumbert

LF

21

COL

MILB

$425K

Quality pick in the 3rd round. A solid contact hitter with plus speed and base running. Gumbert has major league potential written all over him.

4

123

Wes Olmos

SP

19

JC

MILB

$350K

AAA inning eater.

5

155

Benjamin Radke

SP

19

JC

MILB

$250K

Lacks the control and splits to be effective in the pros

Summary: After last season I'm surprised to see Florida take another top 2 picks with signing issues. Long has a lot of potential and fills a desperate need at SS. Gumbert is a huge value picks in the middle rounds and should be a future ML'er. The Question Mark is Payton. If he can be an efficient starter or a solid reliever, only time will tell.

SUMMARY

1

10

Danny Young

SP

20

JC

MILB

$3,160K

Top of the rotation type starter. Danny features good stamina and control and solid splits on top of 3 great pitches. Young should be anchoring a lineup in no time.

2

56

Gerald Wang

SS

18

HS

---

---

Lightning fast and with power to. Wang can field the tough SS position, but will strikeout a lot more than some will be comfortable with, He also will make many an error running the bases. Should make the Majors with that defense though, his bat will be the gravy.

3

88

Max Lincoln

1B

20

JC

MILB

$425K

Fleet footed slugger. Lincoln will not burn you on the base paths. His solid bat and power though will make him a great hitter and a solid 3rd rounder.

4

120

Shaggy Pride

LF

20

JC

MILB

$350K

Solid LF, Shaggy is all speed all the time. This guy knows the bases and should be a great pinch runner and might even carve out a solid career in the show based on his wheels alone.

5

152

Rich Cowgill

RP

20

JC

MILB

$250K

Poor Splits doom an otherwise solid reliever.

Summary: The Alamos got their man at 1b in Lincoln in the 3rd round, leaving their top 2 picks to address the best available guys on the board. Young should be a star in the league and Wang has good value for almost any team. All around this was a great draft for the New Alamos

Grade: A

Memphis AMON-RA

Summary

1

15

Daniel Smith

RP

18

HS

MILB

$2,690K

A bit of a stretch for the mid 1st round, but Smith is a perfect pitcher for a tandem rotation or for someone needing a quality long reliever. He sports 3 good pitches and solid control and splits.

2

61

Bob Thome

RP

20

JC

MILB

$550K

Thome is an enigma, He doesn't have the durability to be a dominant closer nor does he have the stamina to be an effective starter. Everything else is superstar level, What do you do with Thome?

3

93

Curtis Petkovsek

SS

21

COL

MILB

$425K

Boarder line Ml'er He fields and hits well enough to be given a shot for a short spurt in the outfield or at 3B, but probably will never stick

4

125

Henry Henderson

RP

21

COL

MILB

$350K

Quality 4th round Reliever, He is not going to set the league on fire or dominate anyone right now, but he will give a team quality innings.

5

157

Dick Garcia

RP

21

COL

MILB

$250K

4A type reliever, he has the skills to make it for a brief while, but his pitches just aren't up to snuff.

Summary: Tough and unusual draft. The Amon-Ra did get a number of Relievers to fill their ranks and should be set at that position for the future. They did not address any needs in the field. This team needs to develop a catcher or CF soon.
