Philadelphia Balboas Needs from the draft: 1: C 2 2B 3: SP
Summary | ||||||||
1 | 26 | SP | 22 | COL | MILB | $1,560K | 4 solid pitches, good control and pretty close to ready are all great things in a #1 pick. His only knock is a low stamina for a starter, but even that isn't too bad.
1 | 42 | LF | 18 | HS | --- | --- | NOT SCOUTED
2 | 72 | RP | 18 | HS | MILB | $550K | Solid reliever with great control, but a poor split versus lefties. He has 2 dominant pitches which should carry him to the pros and allow him to have a decent career.
3 | 104 | 2B | 21 | COL | MILB | $425K | Solid pick at #104 he has a plus power stroke and decent batting eye, defensively he might be weak at 2B, but he will crack someone's lineup in a few seasons.
4 | 136 | SS | 21 | COL | MILB | $350K | Defensive specialist who does have a batting swing. He will struggle against lefties, but should hold his own by merit of his defense. He might have injury issues.
5 | 168 | P | 19 | JC | MILB | $250K | 4A type pitcher, he will make it to the bigs but doesn't really have the skills to stay or make a lot of impact. |
Summary: The Balboa’s added a needed Starting pitcher, who if he develops should be a mainstay in their rotation. Without even seeing Chouinard would guess he has a pretty strong swing and should be a ML’er. Faulk might not fit Philly’s game plan but someone will covet him and he might get the C this team badly needs for the future. Only time will tell on the impact of this draft in Philly, but it sure did not hurt them.

Cincinnati Bowties Needs from the draft: 1: CF 2 SP 3: LF/RF
Summary | ||||||||
1 | 18 | P | 18 | HS | --- | --- | NOT SCOUTED
1 | 28 | SP | 18 | HS | MILB | $1,370K | 4 top flight pitches and top notch control highlight this prepper; His splits are average at best though which will limit his impact on the league. He might get a few solid seasons, but he is definitely not a star in the making.
1 | 35 | RP | 18 | HS | --- | --- | 3 pitch reliever who has great control and blazing velocity, his durability is low for a reliever, but he might make great impact with a reduced pitch count.
1 | 44 | RP | 20 | JC | --- | --- | Another solid reliever with great control. He should be a mainstay in the major's for many seasons.
2 | 74 | RP | 19 | JC | --- | --- | Decent middle reliever, he is not going to dominate many teams, but he should pitch many solid innings in the majors for many years.
3 | 106 | SP | 18 | HS | --- | --- | 4 solid pitches on a bottom of the rotation mainstay. He is good guy to have stashed in case of emergencies he is not going to lead the league in wins or strikeouts but he should give solid innings.
4 | 138 | SS | 18 | HS | --- | --- | Probably not a defensive option at SS, but you might be able to get away with him at 3B. He's not good enough to break out of AAA.
5 | 170 | RP | 18 | HS | MILB | $200K | Great long reliever, he has 3 solid pitches and good control with his overall rating, he should be a good cheap option for years. |
Summary: Didn't get a good option for CF, but did get a few great options for the bullpen and starting rotation. Cinci's rotation is getting older and pitching is always nice.

Minnesota Maulers Needs from the draft: 1: SS 2 C 3: SP
Summary | ||||||||
1 | 17 | RF | 20 | JC | MILB | $2,500K | Solid, but unspectacular hitter, he doesn't do anything overly well and struggles a bit more than a 1st rounder should against lefties. He has probable a reach in the 1st round.
2 | 63 | SS | 22 | COL | MILB | $550K | Quick, but again another unspectacular hitter. He is defensively weak for a SS.
3 | 95 | SS | 18 | HS | MILB | $425K | Decent power but below average splits make his major league career questionable, but he has the skills to get a shot.
4 | 127 | SP | 21 | COL | MILB | $350K | 4A type player, he has 3 decent pitches and could get an extended look in the majors, he will struggle against lefties.
5 | 159 | P | 20 | JC | MILB | $250K | Career Minor Leaguer |
Summary: No catcher leaves a huge hole. They made attempts to get a shortstop but really did not come away with much. An above average 4th rounder saved this draft for Minnesota

Milwaukee Blue Stockings Needs from the draft: 1: RF 2 RP 3: CF
Summary | ||||||||
1 | 11 | SS | 20 | JC | MILB | $3,070K | The best SS in the draft. He can hit field and run. He will strikeout more than normal, but is a good upgrade for the future.
2 | 57 | SS | 20 | JC | --- | --- | A big strikeout guy who fits best at 3B or in the OF. He has no power but can run well.
3 | 89 | CF | 20 | JC | --- | --- | A speedy good base runner with really no other outstanding skills, a coach could get away putting him in centerfield, but he's better suited for 2B.
4 | 121 | 2B | 18 | HS | --- | --- | He's going to college at 7M, he's not signing anywhere with his skills.
5 | 153 | 3B | 20 | JC | MILB | $250K | Solid yet unspectacular player, he is probably going to max out at AAA. |
Summary: No pitching in the first 5 rounds will doom any draft. They attempted to cover their needs; Morgan could be their SS of the future and add good offense to the Blues. The rest of the draft only stocked the minors.
Grade: C+
