1 | 6 | LF | 21 | COL | --- | ML | Similar to Bonk White who went at #3 except he gives no illusion to playing the IF. He could be the better hitter and the more dependable runner. In the long run Slusarski will have the superior ML career just not as cool of a name. He does have signability issues
2 | 70 | P | 18 | HS | $550K | ML RP | I usually avoid RP with poor durability and Kennedy fits that bill. 2 pitches good control and killer velocity, limit his innings in pro ball and he will be a success for someone.
3 | 103 | C | 18 | HS | $425K | AAA | Career minor league catcher, he has an average bat and below average eye, but does not contribute enough behind the dish to make the Majors for any time.
4 | 135 | P | 21 | COL | $350K | ML RP | Solid unspectacular Reliever. Putz has 2 solid pitches good control and decent splits, he might be a good guy for late inning work. In the 4th round he's a gem.
5 | 167 | P | 18 | HS | $250K | 4A RP | Good pick up in the 5th round solid pitcher with low durability but good control and splits. |
SUMMARY: I think the Marmots did well with their first 2 picks Slusarski is a solid big bat prospect and relievers like Kennedy peper this league, Both guys should be solid major leaguers on an already good team. The rest of the draft has a good amount of skills and might also have decent careers.

Colorado Springs Organizational Filler
1 | 28 | P | 20 | JC | $1,470K | ML spot starter. | He's a scary pick with the 28th. He seems to have a tough road to make it to the Major Leagues and have success. He has average splits and only 2 pitches. On the bright side he does have good stamina and control. I think he will eat a number of minor league innings
1 | 57 | P | 18 | HS | --- | ML Setup | Solid enough reliever, but major signing issues. Not good enough to try to sign for the money, but does have good splits and solid control and 2 pitches to work with if the Fillers get randy.
2 | 92 | P | 19 | JC | $550K | 4A | Average to below average splits might keep him from being a ML player. He should get a shot though
2 | 102 | SS | 21 | COL | --- | NOT SCOUTED
3 | 125 | P | 22 | COL | $425K | AAA | Poor splits will doom him to a minor league career.
4 | 157 | 1B | 21 | COL | --- | ML DH | Solid hitter should put up good numbers in the ML has good power, but might strike out more than a team would like.
5 | 189 | CF | 20 | JC | $250K | ML Pinch runner | Solid fielder and runner and a good contact bat. He is below average against pitching but might hit enough to be an asset with his speed and defense in the pro's |
SUMMARY: Other pitchers were on the board which would over more or be safer picks late in the 1st round than the guys the Filler's settled on. Carson will have a difficult road to the majors and outside of him no one has a lick of talent or in the case of Watson desire enough to make a splash in Colorado Springs.
Grade: D+
1 | 12 | P | 18 | HS | $2,970K | ML SP | He might have been a reach so high in the draft, but he can pitch. He will be a strikeout leader in the league and should be able to induce the groundballs required to pitch in Coors Field. Solid 4 pitches and good control. His weakness against right handed batters might be his knock.
2 | 76 | CF | 22 | COL | $550K | AAA | Might be able to move him to 2b, he has ML speed but a contact only bat with a hole in his swing against left handed pitching.
3 | 109 | SS | 19 | JC | $425K | AAA | Great defender, but can't hit a lick in the majors. Might sniff the majors as a defensive specialist if he overcomes his average makeup.
4 | 141 | CF | 22 | COL | $350K | AAA | All speed and no bat, he does have a decent glove and might have enough of those 2 tools to sneak in the majors for a brief stint
5 | 173 | P | 19 | JC | $250K | AAA | 2 pitches and decent control but poor splits will limit his impact outside of the minors |
SUMMARY: Based only on Jason Brooks the team scores a B. Brooks is a mixed bag, he has a ML career ahead of him, but he is going to get rocked at times and pull in a lot of Strikeouts. He will be a good fit in Coors though and might be the right fit for Colorado. The rest of the draft brings in little to no talent and will fill up the minor leagues for the next 5 seasons.

Salem Slammers
1 | 27 | P | 20 | JC | $1,570K | All-star RP | Solid potential all-star reliever. He has 2 dominant pitches complimenting his good control and excellent velocity. Don't expect him to spend to much time in the minors
1 | 40 | P | 22 | COL | $720K | 4A | Not sure if a guy with average stuff and average splits can be effective in the league for very long. If he had one or the other to lean on maybe but without that, hello minors
2 | 80 | P | 22 | COL | $550K | 4A | Poor control average splits and 2 ML quality pitches, he has a chance to be an injury replacement for awhile.
2 | 91 | SS | 19 | JC | $550K | AAA | Better suited for 3B he has pop in his bat and some hitting knocks, but he isn't going to get to much of a ML shot
3 | 124 | CF | 19 | JC | $425K | AAA | Below average hitter and better suited for the corner outfield, he has good speed but bad base running
4 | 156 | C | 22 | COL | $350K | 4A | Solid hitter, below average catcher but if someone was desperate they might give him some at bats
5 | 188 | 2B | 22 | COL | $250K | AAA | Average hitter but nothing special enough to make him get out of the minors. |
SUMMARY: Tucker might be the most complete reliever in the 1st round. He doesn't have some of the other guys potential, but he doesn't have far to travel to meet his. It is always good when you get a guy you know will be close to what you expect maybe better. Other than that not much in the draft to lean on.
